What You MUST Know About Shopping In The Algarve

One of the many joys of travel is the unexpected knick-knacks that you run across while browsing the local shops.

Not only are these little items lots of fun to run across, they also make outstanding gifts for family and friends back home.

If you’re looking for some great places to go shopping in the Algarve, then you’re going to want to check out the following list of places to shop.

The Algarve is known as one of the top tourist destinations in Europe, and it’s shopping certainly lives up to what you’d expect from a top tourist destination!

1. Vilamoura

To experience the best shopping in the Algarve, you’re definitely going to want to check out Vilamoura.

In addition to some of the worlds best golf courses, Vilamoura also boasts a lively marina packed full of restaurants, boutique shops and antique stores.

2. Albufeira

This major tourist resort was once a peaceful fishing village. Famous for it’s beaches, golf courses, restaurants, bars and nightlife, Albufeira also has a vast range of excellent shops that you’ll want to check out.

You’ll love the local markets where you can get anything from a light bulb to clothes and shoes. There is a Gipsy market held near the Municipal Canteen on the Third Saturday of the month. There is a market in Albufeira, Calicos on the First and Third Tuesday of the month, a market in Guia on the Third Friday of the month and a market at Paderne on the First Saturday of the month.

3. Faro

This is another great spot for shopping in the Algarve. Odds are you’ll end up in this city at one point or another during your holiday to the Algarve as it’s home to a  major airport.

Faro is well known for boasting sunny conditions nearly year-around, making the beaches here very popular for sun seekers.

This is one of the larger cities in the Algarve, so you’ll have no trouble finding yourself both local, and international chains to shop at.

4. Tavira

This quaint little town boasts some amazing architecture. Many small shops boarder the cobblestone streets that wind back and forth between the whitewashed houses of this little town. To get the full “shopping in Algarve experience,” you’ll want to make sure that this is on your destination list.

To put it simply, you’re going to have plenty of opportunities to go shopping wherever you stay in the Algarve. Mark these four locations down though, because they all offer unique shopping experiences that you’re not going to want to miss!
