1. Albufeira

Once a quiet, peaceful fishing village, this is now one of the region’s biggest resorts, and offers many of the tourist activities in the Algarve that you’ll be looking to experience.

You can go to a different beach every day on your Albufeira holiday as there are over 21 beaches in the area to choose from. With the fine sand and beautiful turquoise sea. All of the beaches are safe; most of them have tourist or sports facilities on them.

In addition to it’s stunning beaches, Albufeira is famous for it’s restaurants, bars, discos and exciting nightlife.

2. Tavira

After checking out the tourist activities in the Algarve, you’re going to want to stop by Tavira.

This quaint little town lies approximately 30 km east of Faro. Though this town isn’t as crowded as Ablufeira, it still offers much for the tourist to experience.

This is one of the most architecturally attractive towns in the Algarve featuring cobblestone streets winding between whitewashed houses with clean, slate roofs and brick chimneys. Of course, long golden beaches lie just outside of the town.

3. Algarve Cuisine

Experiencing the food is one greatest tourist activities in the Algarve. Indeed, the local cuisine is reason enough to visit this southern region of Portugal.

As you would expect from a location so near to the ocean, seafood is a major staple of the local diet.

Make sure to check out the local “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants and cafes, as they often have their own unique spin on the local cuisine.
